i didnt realize it was that low.......but i knew it wasnt pretty

for the life of me i cant understand why so many people think hes a great coach when the truth is he struggles mightily in big games

all that "beamerball" nonsense is great if it translates to wins in big games.......but blocking 2 kicks in a game against the st marys school for the blind......doesnt mean a damn thing </div></div>

Why do people think he's a good coach? Oh, I don't know...maybe it's because he took over a program that:

1) had virtually no football tradition
2) was on probation
3) was never on TV
4) is in a location difficult to recruit top talent to

and..

1) took it to 15 straight bowl games
2) enabled it to expand its stadium by 15,000
3) has it on TV for 75% of their games
4) enabled it to use its football success to expand and improve its overall athletic program

No, Beamer doesn't coach in the almighty SEC and his game decisions are questionable, but to say he's not a good coach is a joke.

Someone else in the thread questioned the hatred the UT fans on this board have for VT. I can answer that for you...it's because most of them live in an area where they are outnumbered by VT fans.

If these people lived in West Virginia, they'd hear about WVU all the time and hate WVU. If they lived in Texas, they'd hate Texas and A&M. Hell, if they lived in Oregon, they'd hate Oregon.

I've got news for the VT haters...VT and its fans are no different than any other in college football.

I keep hearing "VT is the most overrated team in college football" etc etc. Guess what? Any team in any BCS conference that had a similar record to VT's would be ranked similarly every year.
